AppleTree LogoAppleTree’s mission is to close the achievement gap before children get to kindergarten by providing three- and four-year-olds with the strong academic and social skills they need to succeed in elementary school and beyond. AppleTree’s early childhood programs impact the lives of more than 1000 children in the District of Columbia each year.

As an organization, AppleTree consists of a research and development institute, AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation, and a public charter preschool, AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School, with seven campuses across the District.

EJF Philanthropies has provided operating support for AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation and its curriculum development initiatives.
