EJF Philanthropies provides support for Urban Alliance in the Washington, D.C. area.
The Urban Alliance mission is to empower under-resourced youth to aspire, work, and succeed through paid internships, formal training, and mentorship. Since its inception in 1996, Urban Alliance has served over 1,200 students through the High School Internship Program and an additional 15,000 students through curriculum outreach workshops and program management in partnership with community organizations and agencies in the Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Chicago regions.
Urban Alliance Interns have significantly better outcomes than their peers. Through internal tracking by their evaluation and alumni service teams, and with independent verification by the National Student Clearinghouse, their statistics show that:
• 100% of Urban Alliance Interns successfully graduate from high school
• 90% of Interns are accepted into two or four year colleges
• 80% of Interns enroll in a two or four year college
• 80% of Interns persist at the educational institutions in which they have enrolled
